The final round (4) of qualifying finished around lunchtime and revealed Jared Tebo as TQ of the truck class, impressively TQing 3 of the 4 rounds, 2nd Ryan Maifield and 3rd fellow AE driver Ryan Cavalieri. In the buggy class Drake had TQ’d Q1 & Q2, Tebo Q3 and the fight came down to Q4, Drake had a bad run and Tebo was charging… until he hit some problems which handed defending champion Drake overall TQ, Jared ended up 2nd and Ryan Maifield 3rd. With the setup of the ROAR nats, your best two qual results count, the finals system is odd and even mains, the semis 30mins in length, truck final 45min and buggy final 60min. We’ve mentioned before the altitude of the track and the havoc it plays with engine power, but most companies look to be on top of things. Factory support is pretty good, Associated, Losi, Kyosho, Mugen, all here with decent sized teams as well as Serpent, Hot Bodies to name a few. Pro-Line, JConcepts, AKA all have representatives here as well as Adrien Bertin for Orion, Jim and Chris from Novarossi USA, and the wonderful Bobbi from Byron fuels. We mention this because the event turnout is a little low (94 truck, 114 buggy) so good to see companies supporting.
